Susan and Nancy Goodman were very different growing up, but they remained close and spoke almost everyday. Unfortunately, in 1978, their conversations changed when Susan found a cancerous lump in her breast. Four years later, Nancy Brinker created Susan G. Komen for the Cure in her sister’s honor. Today, Susan G. Komen for the Cure provides research money, public health education, breast cancer screenings and treatment, and raises awareness of breast cancer by linking with the color pink.
