CharitySelect has two significant goals! And, we invite your active involvement to help us fulfill them both. In fact, we think your role in this process is so important that we very likely can’t succeed without your engagement. So, please help us!
Goal 1 - Big Donations
Our first goal is to some day be able to issue press releases announcing “$1 Million of Donations Achieved by CharitySelect”, “$10 Million Donated to Charities Under CharitySelect Program”, “$100 Million …” and so forth. Why you ask? Because the amount of donations attached to the CharitySelect Program is the primary yardstick against which we measure ourselves and whether, or not, we had a meaningful, long lasting impact on people, our country and this planet. Donations to your charity are how we keep score!
Goal 2 - In Pursuit of Enlightenment
Second, we look forward to the day when a reporter writes an article reporting that “the CharitySelect Program changed the face of the insurance industry in the United States by helping it discover its beating heart.” Our belief is that the insurance industry has a limited view of itself and its role in society as a simple spreader of risk, while CharitySelect believes the insurance industry has the potential to be so much more. Not just an industry that softens the blow of adverse events at the individual and collective levels but, by using its considerable financial resources, expansive reach and recurring revenue stream, to more broadly support charities and the social safety net provided by good works in all its forms. It is enlightened self interest for the insurance industry to support the creation of a more educated, healthier, safer, happier America because, our guess is, a market with these characteristics has fewer insurance losses than one without them. Collectively, we can all help to show the insurance industry the path to that desired result!
Be the Change
So, how do we work together to move the insurance industry's involvement to a higher plane, an elevated level that supports an environment we all know to be in its, and all of our, collective self interest? The answer to that question goes back to words spoken by Gandhi many years ago when he said “be the change you wish to see in the world.” Complaining about conditions, people, business, government, or the issues of the day doesn't make “you the change you wish to see in the world”. That only comes from walking the walk. So, CharitySelect needs your help and involvement as part of the solution and provides you with a simple map to maximizing donations. In this way you can join us to “become the change you wish to see”.
The Walking Army of the Enchanted
A wise person said, “It is a liberating day in the life of an individual when they get up in the morning and go to work because they want to and not because they have to.” In corporate America, it is an accepted fact of life that most employees go to work every day because survival simply requires it. A name for this group might be the “Walking Army of the Disenchanted”. Yet, we believe that in that negative portrayal sits an opportunity, an opportunity for change and betterment. Every enterprise, whether a business, a charity or a government, is more likely to reach a higher level of performance and satisfaction if more of its people are engaged as assets and not managed as liabilities. We each know this to be intuitively true and, given a choice, would prefer work that engages and brings out our best.
But, where can we go to see examples of this type of personal liberation from drudgery consistently practiced on a large scale in the world? An army that is liberated! A legion that rises every morning because its individual hearts and minds compel it to accomplish something of quality with its united energy. Where can we find the “Walking Army of … the Enchanted”?
CharitySelect believes that the best answer to those questions can be found in the world of good works and its charities and supporters. Those linked by their employment, volunteerism or donations to charities, by and large, get up every day and go about the “work of life,” because it is the thing that their hearts and minds tell them they wish to do with their lives. They should be celebrated for it and supported by all people as they pursue these missions. Charity's army is enchanted! And, it performs its good works for the benefit of humanity in a place much closer to the heart than to Wall Street. It is not driven by the lash but led by its soul!
Cast Your Vote for Good
Despite what we hear in America about low voter participation, we all vote every day; most just don’t realize it. Those votes, of course, aren’t registered with pens and read by voting machines but are recorded by how we spend money and those purchases and donations perpetuate systems (like the insurance industry or social support networks) for good or bad. If you believe that the longstanding system of insurance product distribution represents you properly and delivers high value to consumers and society at large, then CharitySelect isn’t for you. However, if you think there has to be a better way, a higher road that is values-based and more fully serves the needs of its customers and its communities, then CharitySelect is very likely worth a try! At CharitySelect, we hope you share our conviction that more needs to be done. And, we invite you to work with us to unleash a multiplier effect of greater good by casting your vote in support of the myriad causes that the servant leaders, at these charities aspire to serve.
